Delegate Mike Rogers, a Democrat from Laurel, plays a significant role in the changing dynamics of Anne Arundel County's delegation. Elected chair of the Anne Arundel County delegation in November 2021, he is the first Black man to hold this leadership position. Rogers, a retired U.S. Army colonel with 29 years of military service, brings valuable leadership skills to the role. His military background includes combat deployments and various command positions.

Rogers emphasizes the importance of diversity in leadership, stating that different perspectives contribute to the richness of ideas. His transition to the delegation leadership position has been smooth, leveraging his military experience to efficiently lead meetings and work with people.

As a member of the House of Delegates since January 2019, representing District 32 in Anne Arundel County, Rogers is committed to bringing people together to pass legislation that benefits county residents and the state. He actively engages with the community and plans to continue encouraging voter participation.

Running for re-election in the fall, Rogers looks forward to door-knocking and interacting with constituents. His focus is on understanding the impact of legislation on residents at the local level and creating opportunities for the next generation to serve.

Delegate Mike Rogers is not only a trailblazer as the first Black man to chair the Anne Arundel County delegation but also a leader dedicated to effective governance and community service.
